It's raining in Puerto Supe. Not a hard, driving rain, but definitely more than a mist. Enough to leave a few puddles on the street. I hear the water splashing under cars as they drive by. It's beautiful.Less beautiful are the bowls strategically placed around our house to collect water dripping in from the roof. These homes aren't built for water. Nevermind the half of our house that is outdoors. You can't use buckets there; you just have to accept the puddles on the floor and thank God for your mop.
I wonder what it's like for the other half of Puerto Supe, whose roofs are made of criss-crossed reeds to keep out the sun but certainly no rain. The water seeping in is surely making mud out of their dirt floors. Yuck.
