Yesterday Tim and I went by C and Y's house to invite them to the evening service, and Y greeted us with some bad news: C has gone to Lima to work. Apparently he was nervous about how Tim would respond and didn't want to tell him. He left during the day yesterday. We are definitely disappointed, but much sadder for them than for ourselves. When there's no work here and there is work somewhere else, what other choice do you have? Y and her teenage daughter will remain in Puerto Supe. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have to split up the family this way. I hope C can come home some weekends to visit. Y says they don't know yet.Besides losing a friend and fishing partner, we're now also down an awesome Alpha leader and the most enthusiastic member of our Thursday night Beta Bible study. I know his absence will be noticed. Although he hasn't expressed an interest in the Comunidad Cristiana so far, his unique leadership style and his passion for God had us secretly hoping God would raise him up to be a leader in our church. Without him leading the third Alpha group, I'm not sure what we'll do yet.
Pray that God would guide us as we think through where we go from here. Pray that He will raise up new leaders, especially men, to fill the leadership gap. Pray for C and Y as they adjust to this unfortunate but inescapable change for their family. And pray that God will provide opportunities in Lima for C to continue growing in his faith and sharing that with others.
