a resurrection story

Last night Tim met with the pastor from a new church we visited on Sunday. The guy has one lame leg and uses both a leg brace and crutches to get around. He told Tim that when he was thirteen, a SAM missionary met him and brought him to a school for disabled children that SAM ran at that time (it's still in existence under Peruvian leadership now). At thirteen, he couldn't read, write, or walk. He got around by crawling.

At the school, he came to know and love God and gained a passion for helping others. It's hard to believe that at one point, this man looked like he had nothing but begging ahead in his future. He graduated from the school and went on to attend two SAM Bible schools, one run by our neighbor Dave Powell. Now he is a church pastor and a teacher at the same school he attended as a child.

Pretty exciting story, huh? I love learning about what God is doing among the "least of these" and the legacy of hope that SAM has left and is leaving in Pucallpa. It's neat to see the fruit of so many years of service.
